Dunce Boi could have gotten financing for his wall the first 2 years of his presidency when the Republicans controlled the house and senate...he didn't do that for what ever reason and now he's using it as a wedge issue against the Dems to give his re-election campaign more fuel...it would be fitting if Dunce Boi ends up in prison being El Chapo's bitch...

While the thought of brown Spanish speaking folk escaping violence in their own countries appears to strike genuine outrage in Trump's base, maintaining "culture purity" hardly seems to be an emergency, particularly in a mongrel county like the US. This is, as someone noted upthread, political theater. But the sad reality is that Trump is just the symptom, not the problem. The problem is that 80% of Republicans still find a way to rationalize their support for him. After all the lies and shenanigans he's pulled, that's some scary sh#t.

I was climbing yesterday with a buddy who's a retired Border Patrol agent out of East, San Diego County.
His comment on the EMERGENCY- He's going to have to put a call out to his buddies still on patrol and ask, "When I left we had everything under control...what the fuk happened guys?!"
Seriously, in the span of his career, he went from dozens of apprehensions a night to catching up on some reading out of boredom. His take- the majority of resources are needed at the ports of entry and the asylum processing centers.
I'm plumb out of reasonable excuses for the Trump supporter other than a persistent and dire state of mind must exist.

But you realize how ridiculous that opinion is, right? The supreme court affects you personally, doesn't it? How 'bout tax laws? The EPA? A government shutdown? POTUS has a strong influence on those and affects you personally.

The more afraid the American people become, the more they will want to build higher, longer and thicker walls and fences. And buy more weapons. The system is too large with too much inertia for one man to flatter himself as able to significantly effect. Just as a wall will only change but not eliminate the problems it seeks to solve, the same is true of most other government acts. It's Superbowl Sunday armchair reality TV Gong Show and the populace loves it, as their lives are a worthless bore otherwise.
