maybe try reserveamerica. they 're Canadian company (go figure) so maybe not affected by the shutdown as much, but still everything will be different regarding that at every campground.

Lapse in Funding for the Federal Government
The lapse in funding for the Federal government may impact your reservation and travel plans.

Many locations remain open during this lapse in funding period, including all Army Corps of Engineers Projects, Bureau of Reclamation locations, many sites operated by U.S. Forest Service concessionaires, and Alaska Cabins.
Keep in mind that if some locations remained open at the beginning of the lapse in funding period, they may have since closed due to impacts on resources.
Recreation.gov does not maintain a comprehensive list of which locations are open, closed, or offering limited access. We recommend you contact local facilities before your visit.
Be aware that if you have an existing reservation during this lapse of funding period, and the location is not fully staffed, your reservation may not be honored.
If you do make a reservation for the near future and the lapse in funding is not resolved by your arrival date, your reservation may not be honored or others may have occupied your site. Your site may be covered in human excrement (poop). Please consider this when making new reservations.
Inter-agency passes are not being sold on-line at this time as we are unable to fulfill on-line orders during the shutdown. Inter-agency passes may be purchased in person at many Amy Corps of Engineers locations.

Does anyone know if recreation.gov is “live” so to speak? Absent a shutdown yesterday should have opened the reservations from 5/15-6/15. It shows every single site, every single day, in that period as either reserved or not available. I could see that but starting 6/16 instead of “Not Yet Released” all sites show “not available”

Edit: looks like not: “Question 3. Can I make a new campground reservation on Recreation.gov?

No. Recreation.gov is unavailable for reservations during the shutdown. Recreation.gov will start taking reservations when the government is funded and open for business.”

Due to shutdown Recreation. Gov is considered unreliable as of now.

There should an IQ test to even log into that site. Thereafter, there should be a scheduled priority based on federal tax contribution.

Some sites opened up yesterday for the Valley, but super random. Good link Trashman. Could always get a few days on "opening day" on the old system...

Looks like that link was wrong, operator at recreation.gov just told me reservations the whole time(so initial reports were likely right).

Better luck next year
