Not really interested in the conflict- I'd just as soon avoid dealing with some folks and their ideas. I use this place for fun and reading about climbing.

Pretty much it; just pass over threads/people that don't work for you. It's sad to see climbing content bumped of the page because of a rant thread; comes with the territory.

If I mght hazard a guess, I’d guess that you’re disappointed with other people rather than with yourself? If so, I’m sorry, and wish I could join you, but I’m just not that well adapted in that way.
We defnitely can shut out other people’s perspectives, and it seems like we’re needing to do that more and more, and that’s probably the healthy thing to do, but for me, I’m still hoping I can understand why their perspective is right for them as well as I understand why it’s wrong for me, and it’s hard to do that if we don’t listen.

There's a difference between shutting out someone's perspective and not wanting to be subject to it day in and day out.

Just stick to the trip report section for a while. It's quite refreshing to read climbing oriented content and generally weeds out the political crap and nut jobs,
There's a few annoying individuals on this site that my mind just (thankfully) auto edits. As soon as I see certain names- my brain leapfrogs their posts and never read anything they write.

Wish to make a shout-out here to the many folks who enrich my day with their posts, some with their insight and some with their humor (zbrown, I'm looking at you at the moment). Also, there are numerous folks here with impeccable taste in music who post up some righteous tunes. As for the lame and the halt, I like justthemades approach, just skip past 'em.
On balance, though, the supertopo crowd is like my digital family of choice. Family is a good way to think of it, too, as I sometimes weary of my real family member's buffoonery. I guess we're all just people here after all.
