Well, it actually starts on the evening of Tuesday September 25th, but the social service part starts on Wednesday September 26th.
We can hope that the devastation of the Ferguson fire won't reach into the Park in the meantime.

Camping, for hardworking volunteers: yosemitefacelift@gmail.com But please read the information about camping on the YCA website first. Also, probably limited availability at this point.

Anders! Thanks for posting.
We sent confirmations/unconfirmations in June. Camping filled up really quickly and we are accepting requests for the waitlist at this time. In a bit, we'll send out follow up to waitlisters.
Cheers,
Allyson

Thank yosguns. That's what I expected. I'd be so far back on the wait list I'm SOL.

There might be rooms at the Cedar Lodge by then. Looks like it burned all around there.. the drive up 140 when it reopens will be grim. Must be 10 miles where both sides of the river burned. Lots of potential slides next winter when and if the rains come.
Last January when I was in Yosemite going into where Yellow Pines is, it looked like a logging mill yard , with hundreds of 20 ft x 24 inch logs stacked up like cord wood.
Not sure if it is Cathedral or Sentinel where Yellow pines is, but it was like that all around the Valley.
For every couple hundred yards you drove there were fifty trees cut down on either side of the road. Maybe fire is the only way to get rid of the Bark Beetle.
I always enjoyed the Facelift the few times I made it. I am sure you will all have fun.
Looking forward to pictures and reports.
One year me and my brother went down for the face lift and got a couple of "Lunkers"
For some people who fish, a lunker is a big fish.
The first day we walked over to the collection area with our bag of trash and a tire across my shoulder I had found in the willows ,along the river. 15 pounds, in my estimation, that's a lunker.
The next day I found one of those folding barriers , like a saw horse that said 'Flooded", that would only be put in place by some one who works in the valley.
I figured it was from the 97 flood.
37 pounds. That was my best find. Good luck to you all, and be careful on the side of the road.
And try to find some "Lunkers"
Aloha

Been to three facelifts. Good times. The first time I was picking up trash along the road that runs next to the Merced. A car drove by; the people inside shouted "thank you!" Made my day.
I was stunned by the number of cigarette butts I picked up that had been flung out the windows of cars. Freaking idiots! Most were in dry pine needles. Amazing there wasn't a fire or so created by the morons.

Couple of years ago I found the frame of a roll-out RV awning in front of the tunnel, mangled, like they hit the tunnel with the thing deployed. Had to strap it to the roof rack on my car

well, I've got camping confirmed and am planning to be there.... one question is - if I have my (becoming infamous) Fireball on hand, will the universe get the joke or is it bad karma?!? ;)
(in no way downplaying the magnitude of what's happening in CA and OR at moment - it's tremendous. Also sending consistent good energy to all who are in those locales.....)

I'm sure we'll get a Facelift update once everyone is able to return to work (and home!) in the Valley, El Portal, etc. They've had more important things to worry about.
It seems unlikely we'll be doing anything related to post-fire cleanup - above our pay grade.
Harrison will keep an eye out for literal and metaphorical fireballs in Yellow Pines.
