Hey,
I'm just curious if the big wall hitchhiker is still in sacramento homeless, or if he resurfaced in the climbing community.
Also, I remember a guy named coiler. I forget his real name. but he had fixed lines on the nose that he got all mad at me for rapping, but I told him, since they were run thru the rap rings, I had no choice. Kind of a short guy, but big attitude.
he was trying to free the nose.

Oh good.
As for Coiler, my memory might be failing me, I am thinking of a short guy that had fixed lines on the Nose for over 6 months, about 20 years ago.
Maybe it was 1994?
Lynne Hill had been the only person to free the nose, but this other guy, I thought he was called coiler, but maybe it was something else. He had all these fixed lines on the nose for 6 months, and he was a not very nice (edit), I'm just trying to remember his name.
My memory is so bad. So is Coiler still around?
And what about the guy with the fixed lines on the Nose in '96. Did he make his goal to free the nose?
just curious. thanks. He was a prig, but I'd still like to know.

You are probably thinking of Scott Burk.
He worked on freeing the Nose from 1/1996 to 11/1998.

Coiler is a different climber; he is more known for doing obscure new aid routes.
Although it's also possible Coiler was helping Scott Burk on the Nose at some point in time.

Ran his fixed lines through the rap rings? Might be dealing with a gym climber.

Coiler's first name is similar to the thinker one needs in their noggin to get up one of his routes and his last name is K

Scott Burk, that's the guy! Did he every free the nose? Or is the nose a moot point now?
Yes, his lines were through the last links of the chains, and I didn't want to leave slings, so I rapped his lines. And he had some of the lines so tight, maybe to prevent people from rapping them, that I had to use my jamar upside down and pull up on his lines so I could attach my atc.
We got got the ground well after dark, and he clamors out of the brush and gets in my face yelling about me rapping his lines. I explained to him, he's got to attach them higher than the last link. Luckily I'm a big guy so it didn't go to blows.
