I normally resource this info through topo maps and Google Earth study but considering I have a multiple of objectives in this area and there seems to be many opinions, I would appreciate any input from anyone that may have info. Of course taking in the multitude of factors such as water, wind and central location for recon as key.
For Swiss Arete it seems as though Gayley camp would suck in low snow conditions due to the long traverse through the talus as well as looking like an exposed location.
I'm thinking the flats at 12,250, just above the Palisades Tarn. It looks as though you can gain the tongue of the glacier early by traversing the right (West) side of the tarn. Depending on snow and the objective, would this work as a good General use campsite for the area?
There is a line of low angle slabs that can be gained by leaving the main trail at an obvious draw that leads to the flats which would minimize the up and down factor.
I'm also keenly aware that death is imminent.
Thank you for your comments! So here is what I was considering in terms of the flats.

I always camp on the flats right above the tarn. Distances are not too far, you can get anywhere from there - and there's water nearby.

This is the view from the tarn. Fischer camp is up on the ridge to the far right. No water.

Is there still an old box (foot locker size) at Fischer camp? It had old canned food and other stuff in it and I saw it there 25 years ago

I scoured all the troll holes...nothing.
I'll post a trip report in a couple of days.
We camped at the base of the moraine- lots of water but more importantly, with lightning floating around we opted for the relative safety of a depression.

Yep, that's it. The water source there is nothing more than a large puddle. I'd camp there if I were going light with good weather. Great shot micro!
