Hey there folks, two seasons back I wandered down the drainage from the sunrise trail(past the waterslides) looking for forgotten stone and happened upon this pretty dome.
I've heard that it might be called Hermit dome, and the pretty crack I rapped into a week later, is named golden child 5.12-?
Does anyone have any history on the area, developers, pictures, other routes?

I’ve walked by it before, but don’t know anything about routes or history, sorry.

Here are a few “armchair” images of the location, for others to reference, courtesy of Google Earth.

In the first image, Olmsted Point is on the left, and Tenaya Lake is on the right. Mt. Hoffmann is on the left skyline, Tuolumne Peak is center skyline, and Matterhorn Peak is in the far distance, above Tenaya Lake.

That is the right area. I approached from the pullout east of olemstead and hiked south up and onto crystal ridge, then west until i hit the subdome, and a small rock hut. One could see a hermit living there, maybe the domes namesake?

Have to admit I've never been there, but it does look like there would be some routes on it. Maybe Ed has more particulars?
