I guess the dude's leg got hit by lava spatter.
Very sorry to hear, but I am kinda thinking if lava was coming towards me, I would get out of it's way.

Believe it or not, that picture was not photoshopped.

Those guys appear to be enthusiastic outdoorsmen from the mainland on an expensive, highly-structured vacation, and they can't afford to let a little tephra, ash and pyroclastic flow disrupt their game of golf.

It's worth clicking through the photo album on that link, there are some amazing pictures. Got me thinking back to St. Helens; we all started watching wind direction much more carefully after the eruption but only got a very slight dusting in Seattle. You can still see ash along side I-90 on the east side of the state if you know what to look for.
