Received this from a buddy on Sunday:
"I just got back from Whitney. Snow conditions are pretty ideal right now. Snow line was between 10,000 and 11,000 ft. The steeper faces and ridges are snow free, except for a few ledges. Snow is completely consolidated. No flotation needed, only crampons and ice axes."

Was hoping to ride our dirtbikes to the portal on Friday but got stopped by signage below the switchbacks. Might want to check on the road conditions for your approach. Good luck!
