We may finally get a long promised flying taxi.

“Say Hello to Cora, the New Flying Taxi From a Secretive Startup Funded by Google's Larry Page”

The range sucks, but it’s a start.

How much for a San Jose to San Francisco ride?

When I go to Europe I am amazed at the peace and quiet of the big cities. Here in LaLa it is
like Blade Runner 24/7 with all the helocopters and low-flying planes.

The German model has also been tested, and they actually have a contract with the UAE to start using them there. EHANG in China also has a flying drone that carries a person.

The clowns hawking this shiz also have no idea what is involved with FAA certification.
It takes deep pockets to get that done. And the standards are years away from even being written! Better to invest in Nebraska beachfront property.

I'm with you on this. Take a look at a major interstate in a city such as I-80 or I-5 during rush hour. Now imagine just 5% of that traffic is flying overhead mostly at low altitude.

It's going to suck big time.

Currently that is true. But I suspect the rules on FAA certification will be relaxed. If/when self-driving cars are actually rolled out on a big scale, I think self-flying taxis won't be that far behind.

Air traffic control will probably be a bigger hurdle than FAA certification for air-worthiness.

I think this will go down like "Uber for planes." They'll ignore the laws, then try to buy enough politicians to get them changed. I really hope it doesn't happen, but I expect that it will.

When do bureaucrats relax the complexity of their nefarious webs? That is anathema, if not outright heresy!

How much for a flying taxi ride from the parking lot to the top of Lambert Dome for a summit selfie?

People should have an alternative to the YMS.
