California Climbers! Researchers at UC Davis need your help.

If you have observed bats at your local crags or any other crag in california, please fill out this short 2 minute survey. Bat populations are vital to the environments that they live in. Please fill out this survey to help UC Davis monitor and conserve their populations. If you have any questions, please direct them to:

Francine De Castro, decastrofrancinea@gmail.com

Thank you!

So, will they protect bats by closing crags where they are reported?

I know of a few crags with bats but am afraid to say where they are because I already had one of my crags closed for a frog.

The gist of this smells of biolo.

My theory is that human activity increases the bat population.

The easier survey would be ... what crag doesn't have bats? Statistically, I think they are the most prolific mammals aside from mice?

Got these at my super duper local secret crag. Or bouldering wall. Or just wall. Ok it's my front door.

Anyone know what kind of bats they are? Top pic looks like western pipestrelle, but the lonely one with the big ears confuses me.

I know of crags which are now closed to climbing based on the unsubstantiated opinion that climbing there has a significant negative impact on bats.

Every now and then, when the stars are aligned, and everything is perfect, 347 trillion bats will fly out of Razors Edge at Suicide as the sun drifts down the Western Horizon. It is quite a sight!!!

Limpingcrab, if I saw that one in the southeast I would say it is a Townsends Big Eared bat. No pun intended. LOL
