since it is she who cannot hear you perhaps the issue is with her computer

it could be as simple as her computer has its sound muted and just needs that button on her keypad pushed?

Are you doing this with Skype?

it could be as simple as her computer has its sound muted and just needs that button on her keypad pushed?

Or your microphone is off or muted?

Do you have a microphone that is plugged into and found by your computer ? I'm not being a dick, just starting with the basics. A webcam isn't necessarily a 2 way communication device.

Skype has built-in "Echo test service" with a description on how to use it.
Most people are able to troubleshoot it successfully.

hey there say, THANK you all... SO VERY MUCH! say, i will go
recheck, but, sadly, LAST time i checked, the 'test' said that the
microphone worked...

i can ask HER though and see if hers is muted or not, but,
when i LAST had this trouble, it seemed that my friend in england, had her
setting all correct...

i will go into the setup and look again... i just can't figure it...

and, we did even do this in facebook chat, too, finally...
and, yeah:

my skype did not work, either, but-- then, i was sure the 'mike' test was okay...

my speakers work though...

*you are fine, too jim-- i do understand, not to worry:
got to start with 'basics' ... thank you so much, :)

will be back later, again... i am working on a project, so have to come
back again...

thank you all for your kindness and concerns...
hoping for success, later, at some point... :)

Neebster we need details. Operating system? Internal or external mic? Internal or external speakers? Speed of internet connection?

Do a skype call with someone who knows their setup is working. Then figure it out together.

Well neebs here's what you do. Get your skype account going and then connect to someone and do some troubleshooting. Report back here.

hey there, say all... :(

oh my, STILL CAN'T get anyone to hear me, on any computer calls...

i can hear and see them... they can see me, and not hear me...

wanted to talk to my mom, and my kids, on computer video chats...
or facebook video, etc...

it is so nice to see my mom-- wish she could hear me, helps, too,
as, she does not have to hold the phone...

and, the grandkids have fun, too, if i call them...

okay, but-- am still having a good attitude...
just trying to solve this... (had given up, before, but now that
my mom can see-- my son sent her a tablet -- i'd like her
to hear me! >:D<

thanks guys... going to sleep now, though...
and, have a busy day tomorrow... will check back, at nightfall...

happy good eve, to all...
and thank you all, for all the years of computer help...
you are great!

*got the skype back, open, but it does not let anyone hear me, either...

how old is the computer? common culprit would be the cable or plug on the mic, or the jack on the computer,

you can get on youtube and punch in your problem and operating system and get a lot of help.

neebee, am wondering if the microphone level on your webcam needs to be adjusted?

try going back into Control Panel, then Sound like you did before. select your webcam and click Properties.

after that, choose the Levels tab and adjust it to 100%. see if this solves the issue.

Good luck!

neebee, try checking if your microphone is working properly.

In "search programs", type "sound", which should bring up "Sound Recorder". Double click the latter and see if you are able to record. This will at least eliminate whether your mic works or not.
