Yet another major corporation will be entering YNP this summer with a location in the Yosemite Lodge.
This continues a growing trend where corporations are gaining undue influence in some of our most sacred lands. In Yosemite, recent years have seen corporations barrel roll into YNP and the National Park Service. The Yosemite Valley Visitor Center now showcases televisions blaring recent corporate sponsorships, for companies such as REI, Subaru and even Budweiser. A small market just outside of the park but still on federal land that was run by a local family lost its contract to a corporation from Florida in 2015 ( uniondemocrat.com/localnews…). And there is also a very public dispute going on in court about who owns the names to historic buildings, camp grounds, and hotels ( nytimes.com/2016/03/02/us/b…) some of which were built by tax payer money in the early 1900’s. This is all amidst chronic and largely unaddressed skyrocketing visitation, which has been met with the dozing of small meadows and trees in Yosemite Valley to pave the way for more parking lots.

With all the issues facing Yosemite, giving a place to Starbucks is the least concern, in my opinion. I was always hoping the Village Store franchise would be given to Trader Joes. I hope they do get the Ahwahnee, etc. names back.

DMT, "fagged" out? Really? I'll edit my post if you edit yours.
Back to coffee, Peet's or Starbucks: a reason to wait for the sun to warm things up. Early starts are so uncivilized.

Remember when they Roasted their own coffee in the Ahwhannee? How far it's fallen.. Starbucks.! And the hotel has lost its name as well.

McClintock! Sorry to say a petition will have no effect on him. That carpet bagging sonofabitch

I can't think of any two things which are so completely irrelevant to my enjoyment of Yosemite than the names of the hotels and the brand of coffee they serve...

The names "Ahwahnee", "Curry" and " Wawona" will never stop being relevant to me. What's next "Yosemite National Park" becomes "Walmart National Park"?

How can you possibly refer to Yosemite Valley as sacred lands? It’s been despoiled for decades.....better coffee than the current fare won’t hurt.

Don't know that a Starbucks is something to be petitioning about. Like the duck said: where was the outrage when Peets moved in? There's not much difference between Peets and Starbucks. One thing corporations do really well is to provide adequate volumes of overpriced coffee to the masses.

justthemaid: . . . to provide adequate volumes of overpriced coffee to the masses.
And we think that the price of gasoline is sometimes too high? Coffee goes for about $15 a gallon at most coffee shops.
I remember coffee being made in the field in Vietnam. One big freaking pot of water and a 5 pound can of coffee grounds poured in. Boil it, then turn it back to simmer, and viola . . . coffee. Pick up your canteen cup, and ladle up a half of quart. Guaranteed to start your aching heart.
I’m with Roger. It’s nice to have a civilized start to the day.

Obviously your not a golfer. There is a world of difference between Peets and Starbucks. One of them actually uses coffee.

Is it a full fledged Starbucks or just the coffee, like they give away on planes?
If it was topless, now there would be some outrage
I guess if you sit back and actually think before acting, you do see that its always been about money
