Has anyone done this? Its been super dry in the valley lately and its supposed to snow Tuesday 12/19 thinking of maybe trying it on Friday 12/22 pending on how the side of half dome looks. But after two days of sun I'm thinking it should be good to go. Thoughts?

We did it a few years ago on New Year's Eve. Very similar conditions as what we are having now. Super super cold on the approach and the descent but a fantastic trip under blue skies.

Temps in the 20s both ways on the trail but splitter weather during the day. A super fun memory.

NOAA seems to say the snow is coming on Wednesday not tuesday

Doable, but there will be some ice around from the storm me thinks.

With potential for ice and/or post holing, the approach and descent could be the bulk of your experience. And quite a bit of that in the dark/cold. Just would be concerned that too much of the trip would not even type 2 fun, just cold slogging in the dark.

Also, I'd strongly recommend you read some of the above user's previous TRs to get a good calibration. They have a very high tolerance for pain, insanity and I suspect may be a bit mentally tougher than they let on.
