Any idea why it appears that he is holding a #5 Camalot? Maybe to help get back up? I'd imagine he would just jug the extra rope he had.

The camelot definitely adds an element of mystery to the video, I was hoping he was going to pendulum off it. Is this the Lost Arrow Spire?

Sorry but this isn't even close to what I saw Dano do off the leaning tower. From the top it looked like Dano had either hit the lower angle wall at the bottom or just disappeared. Then we heard him chatter through the radio. It was unreal. Dano was skydiving with a rope.

The fact that it's not close doesn't seem like a problem to me.

I wonder how much load anchors where taken on these falls.let us know next time and we will bring some gear to measure the peak forces.

This is why base jumping was invented and perfected - seems kind of pointlessly retro and neolithic to be jumping off things with a rope.

My understanding is that by using a rope Dano could fall much further than if he used a parachute. My take was that he was trying to get maximal fall, which has a pretty stiff penalty for over-estimation. I think he was getting more flight than if he were to base jump.

[Click to View YouTube Video] Scroll to about 3:00 to see a Leaning Tower Jump.

Maybe someone who base jumps could answer this - could pull a parachute near the base of the WFLT route (where his rope caught him) and have it stop you before the talus?

Also BASE jumping is illegal in the park. So, rope jump away as much as you want!

I agree mr T, you can take it dirty low with a rope and stop closer to the deck. although, that example jump in the vid is not that low for a canopy to open
