I rode YARTS up on Saturday morning and stayed over the night.blublockr's garlic fries were terrific, as was Lynnie's tortilla soup, which was all that I ate besides a slice of watermelon.
I was mostly useless Saturday except for breaking up garlic cloves and snapping pix. The Meatfest "crew" was pretty self-directed but worked to please nita's ideas, which are based on experience. Moving tables, stringing lights, table coverings to be secured, soup to be made and simmered, beer table to be set up and wood for the campfire secured.
It's a lot of work, but everyone pitches in with a will.A show of hands, please.

Meanwhile on Saturday, at the Yosemite Village mall, folks wound up the Facelift itself and showed up later on in YP for the meal and music.
Vica posted a thread here earlier. She's done several climbs in YV now, but isn't leading anything yet.
Ken was at Meatfest this year, which he hasn't attended in some years, understandable because of his responsibilities and the need to rest after such a hectic week.
Traffic director, of sorts.
Chongo wants to become the oldest man ever to solo El Capitan, he said. I just said "Good luck."

I was pleased to see MH on the mall Saturday. Never laid eyes on Mr. Stannard, however.

Had great time. Missed some key folks though.
Anyone remember who took the lanterns down? Travis would like to get the piton that held one end of the P-cord back.

hooblie, it's funny you say that about the LEO squad.
Jim V and I were quietly sharing a doob in the quiet end of the parking area of YPCG where it's quiet.
A white car came cruising to a stop near us shining its headlights in our eyes. A person got out and the car started doing odd things, like it might be the driver was incapacitated or unskilled.
So Jim, acting like a Boy Scout, walks out of our "hide" by a large pine, HOLDING, for gosh sakes, and asks if they needed help, only to find it was a pair of rangers who simply ignored the odor, apparently.
That was some good PR for the LEOs of YNP, who are not normally that cool.

Facelift Serendipities.....Feel free to add more. :)
I got to thank Mr. Mouse in person for giving me a camera when I had none.
Worked selling T shirts for the first time and had a blast getting to know long time Facelift Volunteers as well as meeting people from all over the World!
Helped at Yella Pine with The Boss :) H. and enjoyed making breakfast and handing out info. Thanks for the first 2 cups of Java every a.m. Harrison.
Ran into Dean Fidelman who was incredibly helpful and supportive for a book Yerian and I are doing called Tuolumne Climber.
Found out Anders, among all his other talents, is also a gifted word editor and punctuation man. Yeah!!!
And just WHY the archeology booth is mega important which left me wishing I had more than one lifetime.
