Here is the beta on how to convert to a remote battery back, using SLA (aka: gel cells) or lightweight LiFePO4 (lithium iron)batteries:

Best to dump (I mean, "recycle") the factory NiCad batteries.

That is awesome information, thanks for the link man!

I replaced the battery in my motorcycle with the gel type lithium battery and shed pounds off the bike, that would make a HUGE difference with the drill!

How hammered is that thing?

How many bolts (give or take 50?)
How many cycles on the batteries?
How many times dropped from over 50 feet?
How many times dropped into water from any height?
Oh, yeah, and how old?

Seriously cool thread there Juan! Sorry I missed it

Home Depot has a sale right now on the latest Bosch 36v, two lithium batteries and charger for $500 and change. Normally $800😬

Lots of good questions there brother.

The drill, charger and new battery are all working very well.

The new battery has around twenty cycles through it. Charges completly in a few minutes. The old battery isn't charging.

The drill itself has plugged around 200 holes in concrete and cinder block. Used to drill rock for probably another 100, not granite, usually softer stone where a four inch x 3/8" hole takes less than a minute.

Not dropped. Not dunked into water. I've had the drill since 08. It spent the majority of its life in the case. Not hammered.

I can ship the drill, charger, and both batteries in a large USPS Priority flat rate box for $20 if I don't ship the case. Just a thought. ..
