Before anyone freaks out about me asking for cell phone service in the wilderness, let me preface this with "I need it for work only".
That being said: what are my options for cell reception (and email too) using AT&T in the meadows? Can I send and receive emails, access websites, makes calls/texts anywhere up there without driving to the Mobil station every day?

As of last week I was unable to get service through AT&T up there at the typical spot next to the Ranger Office near Tuolumne Lodge.

With AT&T, the only place I get any kind of reception is at Olmstead Point. And only when I hold my phone upright and out in the open on startup.

Email and texting works, but no photos or attachments.

What you people don't understand yet THERE IS NO CELL SERVICE THIS YEAR in Tuolomne yet.

What people from above posts are picking up as cell service is a very weak signal from Sentinal Dome tower.

If you need reliable cell service from Olmstead Point you'll need at least a cradlepoint or pepwave with a high gain antenna.

Thanks for the info, Werner!

Cool device. Peplink makes high quality equipment for a good price.

Previously know as Wilson Electronics. The Weboost is popular among the RVers.

The only place I was able to get AT&T service was The Mobile when I was in Toulumne last month.

Is there still a pay phone ? Used that several times on Winter trips years ago.

Who would want cell service? The lack of it is a great excuse to savor that rarest of modern pleasures....not being connected.

As of late last week, anyway, the pay phones next to the campground office were not working.

Jeff, you toxic piece of sh#t. Take a look in the mirror sometime and realize that you've never added a single positive thing to this forum and, most likely, this world.
