My friend is preparing to go to the Valley this month and he would like to leave his ropes home because they weight too much. Does someone know if he will find the following 2 ropes:

1- 9mm 70m haul line static

2- 10mm 60m lead line, his favorite is New England ropes

Thanks!!

Another option, if flying in via San Francisco at a convenient time, would be to order ropes in advance from REI and pick up at a local REI store.
They do not have a 70m static shown, though.

You can order your ropes from a company in the US, and have them delivered to:

Your Name
c/o The Majestic Yosemite Hotel
One Ahwahnee Road
Yosemite National Park, CA 95389

Email Kat McCracken, the manager, first, to ask permission, let her know when the box is coming, and when you expect to pick it up. Last fall, she told me that it was OK to send boxes there, as long as she knew it was coming, and when it was going to be picked up.

The Majestic Yosemite Hotel used to be called the Ahwanhee Hotel, in case your guidebook is more than a few months old. There is free coffee upstairs in the morning, if you are groomed and dressed like you belong is such a fancy place.

Sending boxes to the Lodge, or Curry Village is riskier, with respect to things getting lost (or worse}.

You could contact your favorite rope supplier, and ask if they can sell you the 70m rope directly off a spool. That was the way we once got 70n of heavy-duty, 11mm big wall rope from Yates Gear.

Is Amazon Prime delivery an option in the Valley?

Delivery to the post office only works with USPS. If you have someone shipping using Fed Ex or UPS you are sh#t out of luck.

They have something called Smart Post now, Fedex or UPS delivers to a post office, the PO handles the final delivery, not sure how that would work with General Delivery

Saw a dozen varied rope hanging on the wall yesterday, didn't pay much attention to the details. I am sure there is plenty of variety for the usual stuff.
