How's it goin', eh?

Crystal Barnes just emailed me to let me know the changes in the falcon closures on El Cap.

The good news [for climbers]: Dawn Wall area is no longer closed. Crystal tells me she has not observed any birds nesting in the eyrie left of the Bismark. Last year the nesting birds produced chicks, hence the closure. No baby birds, no closures.

The bad news [for climbers, good news for falcons]: There are birds nesting in the Wings of Steel area, and they appear to be incubating. So they have closed Peter Pan/Octopussy all the way over to Dihedral Wall, including NNL, Aquarian, WoC, Dihedral, Horse Chute and Horse Play. And of course Wings of Steel is closed for the spring season, too - so sorry for any of you would-be Third Ascensionists.

I wasn't allowed to say anything til it's official, but here you go:

So watch for Deucey's D4 portaledge flying on something rad in the Dawn Wall area this spring, and then again someplace else....

Cheers and beers on the bridge,
"Pass the Pitons" Pete aka Dr. Piton

El Cap soon come!
