Seems like they are claining it is illegal in Cleveland NF. Seems like an access issue that could affect climbing

What a dumb statement that Forest Service official made: "It would be a big liability for us if someone got hurt". I mean, yeah, now that you've gone on record admitting that the FS is liable should people injure themselves, you could possibly face some liability issues in the future. That's certainly not the audio clip a defense lawyer would want to hear played in a courtroom.

There are some catch all CFR provisions that the USFS can use for stuff like slacklining. General public health type regs- not really for the slackliners themselves but for people who may be lured too close to cliff edges to see what they are doing or get distracted driving by or whatever.

Doing stuff in full view of the public has its risks and, for a lot of things like climbing, out of sight out of mind is best. It does look like a cool spot to slackline though.
