This is a pretty cool short. I remember years ago when there were very few black climbers on the scene (like Mike Freeman). Very cool to see community developing through gyms in the city, and leading to what might've been unimaginable for many of these youngsters outdoors.

This is awesome!

I went climbing with a dude at Red Rock, 10 years ago. Aahhh, can't remember his name right off hand.
He wasn't very good, but strong as an ox, and clear that he could get really good if he put his mind to it.

Nice to see more diversity outdoors, for years I have wondered why there weren't more black climbers. I've chiefly chalked it up to a lack of resources in many urban areas and the cost of climbing gear, which as we all know is not inexpensive.

Thanks for sharing that.

To be totally transparent, watching this the first time nearly brought me to tears. I know how much climbing has meant to me since I was a high schooler, and seeing this crew--where the "great outdoors" was their back lawn in Queens, NY--have this whole world open up to them kind of floored me.

That was great. I would have liked to have been a fly on the wall when they rolled up to the crags in Tennessee.
