Anyone else read it all? Thoughts?
He seems an ok kinda guy whos approaching the limits of what a millenial info guru can handle. Compared to certain other global leaders hes somewhat more....sophisticated.

That said his enfant terrible is as much the problem as the solution.

Facebook Nation, love it or leave it i suppose.

Cant disagree with most of that...but point was what folks think about his 5000 word blurb. Those that read it all that is.

That went into the ether....

It’s a manifesto?

He’s selling something. We sold something similar when I worked briefly at Cisco Systems. Every new technology is selling a promise of a better world through codified brain power.

The current topic that gets everyone going is “community.” There are upsides to community and downsides.

We live in a pluralistic world. Do you want people to be like one another within a group, or do you want them to be their own persons (individualistic)? You get good things and bad things with either. We loath provincialism, nationalism, and what appear to be groups with bias towards their own interests. But, we really want to be with others of our ilk. Which do you want for yourself—and others?

We all want to get along with one another, but we also like to hang out with those who share our background and interests.

FB’s / Zuckerman’s argument is not too dissimilar to that of globalization’s arguments.

I’d say show some fear / respect for any organization that assumes a central position in our lives.

I'm glad Zuckerberg finally decided to deal with the local community in Kauai.

And dropped lawsuits against native Hawaiians, who had access for planting, fishing and gathering, on tiny parcels of the 700 acres he bought.

edit - this was a couple weeks ago, late Jan. 2017.
