Presumably there is advertiser revenue, and the original model called for member to member messages, but same does not function... should i be waiting? or should i think of the site as i do of the FDA?

I don't understand it at all.

Once upon a time it worked just fine. We were told that it was getting worked on. It has gotten to the point where everyone just gave up on it.

All complaints should be sent by private message to user "Cmac", you just gotta be patient.

I thought CMac and crew were well aware of this. They look at the forum. It's perfectly fine to complain right here. It's been a couple years, how patient does one have to be about this?

I was just kidding. I think Cmac has made it clear that, other than banning flagrant abusers, little or no work will be put into this forum, he has bigger fish to fry. His Outdoor Gear Lab generates far more traffic than ST. I am just glad the forum works.

Maybe someone could set up a private re-emailer? would be pretty easy to do.

Bump. I wonder why we can't get a reply from the admin. about this. I have found it very useful in the past and now it just seems irksome. It has been a about a year since any of my PMs have gone through, or maybe everyone has just been ignoring me.;)

The "I won't accept" feature works fine. Have you checked your settings?

I am wondering if private messaging is working. I sent several a few days ago and have heard nothing. If anyone has sent or received a pm in the last week, could you respond here?

As far as I know, ST messaging has NOT worked for several years now.

If you want to email RJ, the admin, to ask send to rj(at) supertopo.com

They don’t want it to work so they’re not liable for twisted knickers and death threats.

It would make life easier if the member mail worked, but if you need to contact someone you can either clutter the front page with a "shout out" or what works best for me is contacting someone that "knows someone that knows someone." Eventually you get there......hey the route is not always straight forward. :)

It has not worked since FatTrad bought the forum portion of the SuperTopo enterprise.

He has a brilliant political mind, but is not that tech savvy...

Eric, I think RJ is quite capable technically. There is no incentive or mandate to get messaging working though, imho. I'm pretty sure they could get it functioning, if they wanted to.

edit - reading Jim B and Reilly's post - ok, so it's broken on purpose....

Eric: I sent you a member to member e mail some time ago and never received a reply. It was to pass on best regards from Michael Levonas. He's written a nice book about his late wife you would enjoy.
