A very unfortunate piece of news! I hope that it is not the last word and that they are alright after all. I will be thinking about them and wishing them strength to overcome their situation and come home safely. Charlie's judgement has always been sound so I hope it works out this time too.

This would be truly tragic news if they are in fact lost. But it seems there's still a good chance they're just late. Let's hope.
It's not easy to travel or communicate in the Tibet outback.

I got the email this morning from Alpinist about the fund for search expenses set up by Telluride MountainFilm. Does anybody know about this? How will the money be used? How will it get to those searching for them?
This is sad news... I never met Charlie Fowler but he was one of those mythic figures that guided my early climbing career.

Not that anyone deserves this, but Charlie is one of the funist and funnyest guys to climb and hang with ever, and I am sending all the positive vibes I can mortgage in his direction. Hopefully this will be just another great story.

Well I guess the word's out.
I was asked to keep quiet about it early this week, but was gratified to hear that Telluride resident Norman Schwarzkoff was on the case.
It does not look good.
I've been friends with Charlie for most of our lives. He's not one to go awol.
Chris and Charlie came and stayed for some climbing in Zion not long ago. We spoke of their Everest trip with Rod. Then N0_ONE came over met them. and watched a flick with us. Good times.
Two months ago word came of Rod being killed in Iraq.
This fall has already seen our ranks thinned far too much.
For days my mind has been reeling with the infinite possible explanations, but I am left with the conclusion that the cost of our adrenaline addiction may be too high. The trouble is the cost of not living life to the hilt is greater.
I am hopefull that they have been merely delayed.
If anybody ANYBODY has gotten an email or other communication from them in less than three weeks please speak up.
Many people are worried.

Let's hope they are just freelancing around the area. I doubt anyone just vanishes without a trace, even in Tibet.
May they find the pair safe.

I sure hope they got delayed by weather or ...whatever, as long as they return. It would most unfortunate if they remain missing. It's hard when the sport loses one of it's brightest lights.
I pray for their return.

Dammit, this sucks...way too many friends lost this year! I worked with Charlie at Neptunes ages ago. Hung with Chris at Everest base too. Really hoping they're both okay.

We will see what we will see. Charlie is one of the most capable survivors ever, he told the other guys to give him up for dead in that 1000'+ slide where he lost his toes a while back. If anyone could make it, it's him, but he is as realistic as anyone can be.

Ugh... saw the best sunrise of my life with Charlie in 96... don't know how ten years could've gone by so fast. Still remember that like it was yesterday. Hopefully he and Chris are just crawling out.

Living in Telluride, I used to sit in a local coffee hangout, swilling and chatting with Charlie. Everyone was so happy when he & Chris got together... they seemed to really appreciate each other, complement each others' strengths, and share an inimitable motivation. That they have each other is in their favor, right now.
