A good man, to be sure, but he has a very mixed legacy, not the least is that he didn't inspire
the country to elect his anointed successor, and it wasn't for lack of trying.

Obama leaves the presidency with > 50% approval rating...not bad for a two term president. I didn't always agree with his policies but I give him a lot of credit for persevering 8 years under the microscope with the republicans opposing everything he tried to accomplish and disrespecting him like no other president has been disrespected.

I don't blame Obama for Trump winning. Those who voted for Obama twice and then voted for Trump would probably have voted for Bernie.

Hillary was the ultimate Washington insider and the red states wanted anyone but an insider.

I put some of the blame on Debby W-S & the DNC...the people who really rigged the election.

Obama leaves the country 10 trillion dollars more in debt then when he took office, doubling the national debt.

and I'm a democrat, or was before Hillary stealing the nomination from Bernie.

An entire heartland, so afraid of a black president that they were willing to elect a TV caricature mafia clown.

Obama did his best to act with intelligence and class, and to protect the country. I'll always admire him for standing bravely against all the vile filth thrown at him.

i never related to the idea of being represented, but this went beyond that.
he said he was looking forward to being quiet, to not hearing himself talk for a while.
you got it barry o, from me to you ... that's how i feel about what and how he gave.
i'd hook him up with blue skies if i knew how

obama mostly looks good given the "sentient tire fires" [thanks liberal redneck] that book ended him.

in the last year over 26000 bombs [three every hour of every day for the last year] were dropped on seven different predominantly muslim countries. and many of those were dropped by proven to be mistake prone remotely operated drone.

sure obama was a great campaigner. and he had a great vision much of the time. and he was also a necessary step in the u.s.' continued integration of some of its long term abhorrent past...

unfortunately, due not only to his own failings, there was more hope than change...

and so we get to see whether this time is really rock bottom.

so far it looks like we're just getting started.

and some of this new spiral falls directly at obama's feet...

despite what the deranged would have one believe, there was too much ineffective focus on "enemies" abroad at the same time that there was also too much belief that he could negotiate with the wolves already in the hen house at home.

and so the world will suffer in the long term even if there is no question that i also believe he did do his best to turn a ship that seems hell bent on following the path of the deceased empires that have preceded it.

While I applaud his character and domestic agenda, for the most part,
I found him gravely wanting as a statesman. A highly questionable deal with
Iran, he encouraged the Ukrainians to take on the Russians and then left
them to row themselves, he armed and supported the wrong people in Syria,
he kicked the N Korean can down the road, he punted on Chinese hegemony
in the S China Sea, he has done basically nothing of any import in Africa.

A questionable deal with Iran...huh? You mean the one that stopped their race to manufacture a nuclear weapon and gave us the right to renegotiate if they violate the terms? That one? Or maybe you prefer the Republican plan...hmm, where is it? Oh yeah, with all the others...MIA.

Crankloon, take a reading comprehension class. I said "questionable",
not disastrous. He bought a rug that was over-priced and of dubious quality.

A decent man, a gentleman and scholar who had a progressive vision for America and the World. Time will tell if his ideas prevail.

Edit: Forgot to mention that eight years ago I saw a clip of him walking into a gym to shoot baskets, pausing under a chinning bar and doing a pull-up. That sealed the deal. I voted for him.
