Power is out at my friends place in Truckee. Forecast calls for up to ten feet.

Anyone in that area reading this? How's it panning out?

Photos?

Interesting website, thanks.

This graph I saw there illustrates why Wyoming is so windy in a way I'd never realized, pretty cool.

Looks like Northstar, Kirkwood, and Heavenly all got close to 4 feet in the last 24 hours.

Power still out. Wet, heavy snow everywhere. Resorts shut down for 4 days now. High avalanche hazard.

15 years ago, getting snowed in for a couple of days was novel, and super fun. I miss that.

Kirkwood's website reports 71" in the last 48 hours and 133" in last 7 days. This is also mixed in with several inches of rain too!! I have been watching the snow cam and you can watch the snow build up and then get depleted as the warm cells push through!

Was there last Saturday as the storm arrived and it was snaining hard!! Thought I would make it for a dozen runs, ended up with 9 before I was too soaked and the snow was getting really sloppy!!

Also got a text from a buddy who works at The Heave and at the top they got 96" in the last 48 hours!!!!

Gonna be awesome the next two days!!! Tomorrow still snowing and bluebird on Friday!!

"Controlled" avalanche that came through the front door :-)

edit - It is better than uncontrolled destroying the houses.

F*#k you undeserving, over sunned, Starbucks drinking Californians.
Sounds like you got as much there this week as we have in the whole season. Drought for 2 weeks here with lots of outflow winds.
Maybe I should come down and sleep on someone's couch and let you show me what the good life is all about.

That picture brings back memories of a year when I had a 11 foot tall tunnel shoveled from the driveway to the house here.

It's not all fun, F!

Maybe I should post to the 1st world problems thread (or Kirkwood appreciation), but we can't get up there for another day or two. All of 88 closed, with unknown ETO. And its going to be snowing tomorrow.

Not much fun right now when the roads are closed due to slides and the resorts are closed because of too much snow......

Hope it gets cleaned up before the weekend...

Storm Total for Sugar Bowl so far: 97" !!

I live in Serene Lakes at Donner Summit, been three straight days of snow management and all highways closed. Looks like it is lightening up, and hoping to hit some tracks tomorrow! (and get out for food shopping, and change of scene etc.!)

todays auto extrication.
