With the widespread advent and uptake of drones in misc. recreational (i.e., skiing) and commercial (i.e., agricultural) endeavors, there must be many interesting episodes of climbers using drones to photograph themselves during their climbs? And the use of drones for this purpose would surely result in special perspectives that are not attainable by normal photography, with or without the use of ropes. Is this the case? Does anyone have photos and/or videos taken of them climbing using drones? Also, are there regulatory issues associated with drone use in climbing areas (for example in the national parks)?

Neighbors aren't so keen on that, Reilly. Stealth is key.

Drones are banned in National Parks, Wilderness Areas

No restrictions on BLM or National Forest (unless you are operating commercially and then the same regs apply as with any photography).

Here in Boulder all they are banned in Open Space (Flatirons, etc.). Also banned in Colorado State Parks.

If you want low-level aerial stuff in the National Parks, how many ways does the NPS have to tell you to "go fly a kite!" ?

All your park are belong to us.

Ken in Seattle will get you squared away:

Do you think these guys gave a F about National Parks, or getting shot at?

The stuff that Jeff Constine has shown is the best that I've seen.
It takes much more than climbing chops to "GET IT" there is real Art involved.
He is The Big gun Mofo! In climbing and drone survalence of climbing in my opinion
(I know, sorry to the other pro's here, but I've not seen your/their work)
He has some sort of Hollywierd exposure. I like to think of him crashing the most expensive
Drones to get a shot at buying them cheap off the production company ( complete conjecture)

The drone busters can't get into consumer hands quickly enough.

At least the two stroke crowd is doing something while they annoy everyone in ear shot, instead of getting another angle for their feed.

what is wrong with using drone to clip biner, set top ropes, dropping pizza and beer and do SAR or warn when LE is about to checkout the permits?

The back drops can make or break the sense of being there.
That said, Jeff is one very competitive Big gun Mofo!
He has some sort of Hollywierd exposure. I like to think of him crashing the most expensive

Never mind all the nostalgic Gunks stuff.
While not a -drone video- check out the"Moments of Doubt" video,
at 3:17 the soloing would have been excellent
but the shot never pans out far enough for my taste,
Jeff will just laugh,
his work is miles beyond the fixe'd camera stuff!
(Hey! JC, ask 'you know who' about this! Tell her it is up 'Hill' from A. I. and Running Man)

but the Gunks App folks are the New IN crowd at the Gunks.
So it won't belong before we see their product reflect comments like this.

This place I miss more than I could ever explain
I know these places well they were walking distance from
Where I lived and you used to be able to drive to within a 10 minute rock hop
Now it requires miles of walking through the woods from Spring Farm, the "back side"
Or a more expensive stay at a bed & breakfast, that is close but still not that close
and there is a very anti-Mohonk, anti climber, property owner.....His land, where 'Artificial Intelegence' sits neglected must be avoided
( my attempt at a public service announcement )

No back to the future though so here it is here. . . It speaks to the changing
Of some climbs from 12s & 13s down to, sandbags, (Certainly if you go to do them On-sight.)

I was once able to float all three,
infinite Space, Kansas City & Suppers Ready', in a day.
I didn't float Marooned or The Sinus or Dark Shadows, (Drk Shds, Two ways to go the easier escape lower, to the right. turning the roof at the spot where the white rock turns dark.
Or the much longer and harder way. Straight up the white rock, to and through the steep dark rock at the top past the overlaps.

All 3 of those climbs were ground up, on-sight FAs
First led on an odd assortment of wired stoppers & clog Wabs on cord, No cams,
every bit 5.12a-b, c if you're small...
11c-d? What do they Call A. I. ?( artificial intelligence , now .12d?!)[/quote]

There are 4 distinct cruxes on Marooned as I recall, all of them are edited out of the video.
The 1st, arriving here, the stand-up to get to this, is all part of the sequence from a necky reach out of the corner. As seen In the shots of R Romano,Apologies for the 'All time' R.R, Butt Shot,If only . . . .I could go back again!

Thnx rgold,
