Sounds like Tom could benefit from some help. Am starting a new thread for this.

Needing a Ramp for Van

Looking for help to get a ramp for Van currently am using two ramps for a motorcycle or ATV into back of a pickup. Very scary to enter and exit the van. Limited use due to the fact that is very unsafe. But will use to get to important events. Any help big or small would go towards making another need happen.

Looks like he surpassed his goal months ago.

That's how it appears, but Tom's NEW request for funding for a ramp was posted just 16 hours ago. I got the update (number 13) by email because I donated 3 months ago.

Its not clear how much he needs for the ramp, but it sounds as if he's not able to make full use of the new van at present.

anyone who knows Tom needs to suggest to him that if he wants to raise new funds, then he needs to change the fund raising page. People show up and see the 10 grand raised which is over the original 8 grand and think he has met his goal.

Its also best if he sets a new goal. It sounds like he is currently just asking for a ramp, but I wonder if that will be enough. Does anyone know if he will eventually be able to drive with hand controls, or is that too much? If he can drive with hand controls, then he needs a wheel chair lift instead of a ramp, unless the ramp is hydraulic which he could operate on his own. If he plans to drive himself, then he needs a way into the vehicle that doesn't require extra help. I don't know his exact situation, so maybe these suggestions are unnecessary.

Just some suggestions. I am hoping the best for him.

New fundraiser started for Tom now, with an $8,000 goal.

The van has been wonderful, but the next stage of becoming mobile is the need for a ramp. Currently, I am using motorcycle and ATV ramps to enter and exit the van.

This is really scary, I have already fallen off of them and thankfully was unhurt by the fall. After the fall I have been reserved going up and down. So once again it has limited me in using this wonderful Van.

We have been working to raise the money to make this happen. So we are again asking for you help in making this a possibility.

Thanks for doing that Kunlun... I don't know Tom either except what I read here and he seems like a good guy. I am glad he changed the page.

Bump.. come on people. Climbers raised 200 thousand dollars in less then 24 hours to rescue two climbers. Now a climber needs your help so that he can be mobile. I would donate if I could, but this month I had my own emergency which ate up all my extra funds. But surely at least a few of you could afford to send a few dollars.

Here is the story about needing a van. Climbers raised 10 grand for that.

For those that don't know I am Tom Gilje Zaudke.I broke my neck in a biking accident in 2010 on Thanksgiving day. My life totally changing, I am now a C4 Quadriplieglic.
I have begun my toughest journey yet, making my life whole again with the limitations that I know face everyday.
I know leave outside of a facility in a home, with assistance. I have great family and friends to support me each day. But my biggest obstacle I am facing today is the need for transportation to and from any where that I need to go. Moab being such a rural comminutity the availablitiy for transportation is almost non existant.
Finally I have found a van that will meet my phyical needs, but I need your help in making this dream come true.
This will further open doors for me allowing me to get to appointments, continuing my education, and even getting a job.
Your help in making this a possiblity will make not only my dreams a realitity, but those that support me as well.

Now he needs a ramp to make the van useable. At 8000 dollars it sounds like he is asking for a wheelchair lift.

Please consider being generous.

I wonder if the fact Go Fund Me doesn't take PayPal anymore has affected donations (although it didn't seem to for the rescue). It used to be so easy to click PayPal ... Now you have to go get your credit card, enter etcetc. I know, first world problems.
The other issue might be, as I recall the original fundraiser exceeded expectations so maybe there could be information as to the uses of that. https://www.gofundme.com/2795mqk?

Anyway, it's a good cause but maybe more specifics about ramp costs and use of the "over goal" funds for the first request might be an incentive to break open the wallet.

Susan, am wondering if you call Jaybro and relay your message about more details for what exactly Tom needs. I don't know Tom, or if he is reading this thread.

Or maybe (I think you know him) ask The Larry, who posted the 1st thread about raising money for the van.

Would be good if Tom could get a price for the exact lift or ramp he needs.

70 mi from Moab

Just one example of options available.
I've removed these from vehicles in the past.
They are not that dificult to install.
Generic lifts can be easily modified to install in most vans.
