Hey,

I'm planning to do the Nose, like a lot of people I guess. I've done LF, WFLT, SFWC a few times, and a practice run to Dolt, so I'm not a complete noob, but still learning. On several topos of the Nose they suggest hauling straight from p16 to p18 in one go. This section traverses left to Camp IV, and then back right to some bolts before the Great Roof. I'm wondering how that works if the belayer isn't there to release the bag. How do you secure the bag so that you can safely release it/lower it out without a belayer at the bag? I was considering some kind of hook-based MacGuyvering, but I could see that going wrong if it got snagged in the wrong way. Maybe there's a ledge at the top of p16, and not much of a lower out for the bag, so this isn't an issue?

Thanks!

There's a ledge, hang the pig on a Petzl Fifi, haul straight up. google Hudon's slippery knot video if worried about it popping off.
