In this essay, she describes the scientific mapping of caverns on the top of Mt. Rainier, and that they were not allowed to use helicopters to get up there with all the gear.

This seems not right to me. This is not a recreational activity, it is not for the purpose of climbing the mountain, and it puts the participants at considerably more risk, due to the weights that have to be carried, and the gear that cannot be taken.

This is a clear benefit to the park, and they should be more supportive. The Wilderness Act allows it.

And the mapping of those 'caverns' helps the advance of science or just somebody trying
to make a name for themselves? Big Lou didn't ask for no damn helo when he went
SCUBA diving up there. He manned up and carried his own sh!t.
