Hi,
Does anyone know the name of the mountain in the middle of the photo at the top of this web page, please?

http://www.alexnail.com/blog/trip-reports/tasermiut-greenland-pt-1/

And anything about any routes that might have been climbed on it?

Thanks in advance,

D

I found it on Google maps: https://www.google.com/maps/@60.45705,-44.49481,4195m/data=!3m1!1e3
Sheer wall on the right side of the pic is apparently the north face of Ketil, if my snooping is correct, but no name for the peak in question yet. Fwiw Google Earth puts it at ~3500'

Edit: if I'd taken the time to read the whole blog before posting I would have seen that Ketil is correct.

Still digging.

I found http://www.slideshare.net/peivhau/gazetteer-of-greenland, but nothing listed under Mountains for the coordinates 60°27'N 44°30'W (summit of the buttress over the fjord) or 60°27'N 44°25'W (summit of the peak that the buttress' ridge extends west off of, approximately 5500'/1677m).

I also found http://www.scanmaps.dk/0257046 if you're willing to throw out $16 (plus overseas s&h) for the slight chance it has a name.

Thanks for the effort. The reason for trying to find the name is so I might stand a greater chance of finding anything about it, "like we tried but it was a pile of choss". Being the stuff to the right has been climbed a lot, it seems strange this this hasn't - it looks massive.

Yeah, with its height of ~3500' that face is probably 1800-2000'. But it's pretty ledgy and the end of a ridge, and considering there are 4000-6000' sustained faces that lead to true summits in the immediate vicinity I'm not entirely surprised in its lack of attention. I expect most expeditions that are going to go that far afield are going to go after the big fish until they're picked clean.

There is a ton of better looking rock very nearby. Definitely a 5 star destination on a scale that goes from 1 to 4.

No clue on the name of that chosspile you seek, but this link from the sailboat they encountered is pretty sick:

Thanks everyone. One reason I'm interested in it is that we have a mixed team of 15. Some will go new big wall bagging, others will be looking for a new big 5.6 or so.

Heeeey, now we're talking my language. I feel like everything someplace wild is 5.12+ A4 nonsense.

That is one hell of a website. I just got lost looking at the Norway photographs. Awesome. Thanks for that.

Hi David. Did your team ever get up that unnamed mountain? A good deal of bushwaking to get into striking distance, I could imagine...!

Michael, no we didn't, so the first ascent is still to be bagged. (As some of the raps are now equipped, it should be an easy tick.)
