Right now I am eating the perfect salad.

Romain, celery, a quarter onion , and two baby carrots.

The secret ingredient's are a couple slice,s of pineapple and handful of cashews and lots of fresh grown basil.

Always put some raw cranberries on the side.

Try to include this in my meal every night. Cant think of anything much better than pineapple and basil, unless you added cashews, and I always add cashews,, give it a try. .

What kind of salad do you like?

hey there say, john... wow, i would love to make neat salads, but whewww, it cost so much to buy all the ingredients, :))

so, at least i will have an onion, for my lettuce, :)

would love all kinds of stuff in it, if i could...
and most likely little seeds, or dry berries, at times...

and at least tomatoes, avocado, really thin celery, beets, :)

oh all kinds of neat things... even bits of cheese, or some
hard boiled egg at times, or... or... wow... :)

thanks for the fun! oh, and of course, MUSHROOMS, :)
THIN cool cucumbers, too, :)

If you like eating the skin on cucumbers, get the prewrapped English kind. All others are waxed pretty heavily. Or so I've been told.

The best salads are the ones that straddle the line between salad and dinner.

One of my favorites is based on squid, red onions, and pequillo peppers. Put a bit on the side, or grab a big bowl and call it a meal.

Oh man, now my service may cut out.
So sticato posting....I am in fact vertically challenged and as such with age
I fear that I risk the reality of being as wide as I am tall....
this is no joke as I choke down a lot of what I call goat food or rabbit chow,
The bags of salad at the grocery go bad and get replaced bi weekly,
A variety of mixed greens whatever's cheapest
when that is not available,
I make do with shredded cabbage.
By adding Balsamic, to the waning jar of peanut butter
with a drop of hot sauce and a shredded spicy pepper,
I'm good to go,
although the calories of that are high.

When things go well, most of the time I get a product of julienne veggies called
Broccoli slaw,
& the bagged Coniferous Crunch, a mix of kale & shredded brussle sprouts , that is not a big seller, from Trader Joes.

The one close to me, down a significant hill by the way,
is only a half store no wine and warm beer, no fresh cooked, buffet bar.
The manager is very good to me,
as for what I add if providence provides - anything.
From hard boiled eggs or a bit of left over chicken, or fish,
this new fake salmon that they tell us is the same fish,
it is not,
but mostly twice a day some sort of salad is what I eat, but still I fight to loose weight...
As I've said and thank you again,
all of those who saw fit,
it is all in the cause of raising the kids.
It is Smoke and mirrors - a house of cards -
it goes from sunshine and all right, to scary bad,
but we keep a stiff upper lip and
the wee ones are nun the wiser,
they eat well almost all the time and
Salad
pasta and sauce once a week we make a treat.

Oh my - if the wife sees this she'll have kitten and I'll burn it and throw it in my salad.....
Just kidding

Spring Mix greens, diced carrots, sliced and halved cucumber with skin on, chopped green pepper, chunks of tomato, sliced mushrooms, and just a little chopped onion. Dried cherries or cranberries and sunflower seeds. Dressing is a dollop of "red" Naked juice mixed with olive oil, lemon juice and ground pepper.

I also like heirloom tomatoes with basil, mozzarella and cubes of good bread with a crunchy crust/chewy inside. Dressing is balsamic vinegar and olive oil.
