I am mailing a cam to someone in France, and they asked me to see about finding a Trango #5 Yellow Big Bro for them. I don't suppose the condition matters, as long as it's not too terribly bent, or squashed flat, or something. I'll even take one of the recall units, because it's easy enough to redrill the body in the correct place.

In about two weeks I will send the box to France.

Yeah, I know: the Big Bro is inferior to the Valley Giant VG12.

Blah-blah-blah.

I've got one that has been placed just once. Any chance it could go part way for a VG9? I think I need a second one for Excalibur, maybe you could chime in on that?

^^^I figured you'd have a couple boxes of those stockpiled Stephan:-)

Not when one is having gravity dragging ones fat ass back to the ground Haha. The Trangos must weigh less than 1/2 what a Valley Giant does Tom. I think the system is the VG as a pusher, and the Trango #5 gets placed and left as pro once you get higher up.

Weight = 578.3g which in real weight measurements is 20.4oz
Size range = 287mm-467mm -which in real measurement increments is 11.3"-18.4"

No offer of $$$?

My Estate Planning will have the executor bid mine out. Cold dead hand and all that. :)

Is blah-blah-blah in the spec as technical term? ;)

Ho no couchmaster, don't believe it... My modest collection consists of one prototype BigBro #5 and one BigBro #5... what is "widely" enough to please me :-)
The prototype #5 is angled cut like all the other sizes. The marketed BigBro #5 is cut with a larger angle.

I forgot to ask Arnaud, in Maisons-Laffitte, how he wanted to deal with buying the #5.

He hasn't responded to my recent email about how he will deal with this minor defect in the details of the transaction.

The original idea was: a box going to France could also include a Trango #5.

There are no listings for a #5 on eBay, and Trango, apparently, doesn't make that size anymore.

Jaybro - is the #5 too wobbly, or unstable? Why did they discontinue that size? Who made your 21st Century boys?

Arnaud Lacoume. If you want his email address, PM me.

Stephane, I have not forgotten about your vintage, undrilled VG7. I have the lobes finished, and I just made the center spacer (magnesium!). I just have to desolder one of my oldest VG cams, to cannibalize it for the vintage metal trigger bar. Unlike Saturn, I have trouble devouring my own children.

Thank you for the Christmas card.

I've fallen on all of them....

I think they discontinued the five because of lack of sales. They seem pretty stable, in a good placement.

Trango discontinued both the #0.5 and the #5 Big Bro models. I have both including two #5's, but they are not for sale.

Thanks for the help and the replies. I put Arnaud in touch with someone who has a couple of unused Bros for sale.

Good news everyone!
Trango is bringing the Number 5 Big Bro back in limited runs!

Preorder here https://trango.com/p-356-big-bro-5.aspx and once they get 100 orders they will do a production run.
