Just got out of the theater. Saw it in 3D with my son. This is what 3D was made for! Awesome.

I really enjoyed it. Beautiful movie. Massive stunts. Incredible scenery. I liked the new twist to the original story too. Liked the guest appearances and knowing who pulled off the stunts.

It doesn't take away from the original. That is a classic. There can't ever be another Patrick Swayze as Bodhi.

But the stunts in this movie are off the charts. Do yourself a favor and see it in 3D.

Spoiler Alert! Do not read this article before seeing the movie ...

Hey Blue,

The article I posted calls them out by name. I didn't want to spoil it.

I would say see the movie and pick out who you know. Guest appearances by some who are obvious.

Represented: Off-road motorcycling, sky diving, skate boarding, big wave Surfing, free diving, BASE jumping, wing suit proximity flying, snow boarding, bouldering, extreme soloing (ok cgi-ed out the ropes), impossible cliff jumping with nothing ... Did I forget anything? Full on extreme sport stunt movie with a new twist to the original great movie.

(Ok 3 complaints: they didn't have any skiers, and they didn't do paragliding or speed gliding!!! What is up with that???? Lol.)

What a lot of people who watch this movie don't realize is a lot of the stunt work is real. Not cgi-ed. Cgi-ed to make it look better and beautiful, but much of the big stunts are real.

Is there climbing? No doubt there is!!! None other than __ doubles for Utah in some really cool soloing scenes in a very spectacular setting.

I will now have to see it again in 3D. 2D just isn't gonna do it for me for this movie.

I've been good. Thanks for asking. Climbing, skiing, hanging with my kids this Christmas Holiday Season ...

Very cool.

After the dust settles and a lot of people have seen the movie it would be great to hear from and see Supertopians who were involved post up. That would be way way cool ;-)

I want to go see it again. The visuals and stunts are that good.

Jeff,

You guys did a great job! Very cool movie :-))

Those who are into these outdoor extreme sports get it regardless of movie critics.

Just wondering where was the off-road motorcycle riding on the thin desert ridges done? I couldn't figure out the location. Thanks.

It's a plotless two-hour Mountain Dew commercial with some Red Bull moments tossed it. I plan on seeing it, because I like the big stunts which were superbly planned and executed in this film. But the job that casting did, Swayze's phenomenal acting and Reeve's multiple, overlapping character arcs from the first Point Break...don't get your hopes up, just settle in and enjoy the visual razzle-dazzle.

Film critics are just ripping it, it's at 7% on Rotten Tomatoes. The New Yorker was particularly unkind. Ouch.

bvb hit the nail right on the head with his review. I saw the movie Xmas day in 3D. It was my first 3D movie so that alone was a fun experience. Like bvb i enjoyed and can appreciate all the stunt work but that was the meat of the movie. It was cool to see a big list of athletes from many different disciplines get all that fat Hollywood work.

The result is a movie that becomes enough of an extreme endurance test that Bodhi could easily add it to his to-do list.

Ha! Reckon I'll skip it.

Jeff thanks.

Warning Spoiler Alert!!!!

The 2 are really different movies with a vague outline from the original. I liked what they did with the new movie and the new story. Sure it tips its hat to the first movie plenty. Even some lines spoken are the same. There won't be another first Point Break movie, but all that aside its a very entertaining movie. I liked the "spiritual seeker" aspect and the Robin Hood morality, even though there are certainly some very dark aspects to the new story. That made it interesting to me also.

I don't care what the critics think. Did I like the movie and did I enjoy it? Yes and yes. Like I said I'll probably go see it again in 3D. I wasn't looking for the best movie ever made, but in terms of extreme sport footage in very dramatic natural settings shot incredibly artistic and dramatic it gets an A+. The new story is cool and does give you pause to think. It went from an R rated movie to PG-13. They cleaned it up a great deal. They want to pull in the youth that can do these things and will be inspired to do more.

The stunt work is real and state of the art. Do ordinary people and average Joe get that? Probably not. They probably think it's all faked. The natural landscapes are real. Cool new story with lots of respect toward the original.

Can't help all the negative ninny nanny naysayers. Nothing will be good enough for them.

It may have Sharma, and Chopes, and a bunch of other cool stuff...

But it doesn't have Anthony Keidis or Warchild handing out beef at Secos.

This is the second Point Break remake. The first was called The Fast and The Furious and was pretty fun.

Not quite true. There are plenty of films out at this very moment that are plenty good enough for "them" "ninny nanny naysayers" People who study film for a living take it seriously, and often disagree. But the reviews on Point Break are remarkably unanimous.

There are gazillions of "best of" lists out there if you wanna know what the ninny nannys felt was, uh, good enough. I cannot, however, speak for the Nattering Nabobs of Negativism. They keep to themselves these days.

This is the second Point Break remake. The first was called The Fast and The Furious and was pretty fun.

Ya, I had the exact same thought!

Universally admired films you can see right now:

By the way, I saw it again in 3D with a date. She got very nervous with the climbing scenes on Angel's Fall in Venezuela. She's scared of heights. Lol. I did not know that. I would have to say that's my favorite visual extreme sport adventure scene in the movie. Great stuff.

Picked out more well known extreme sport athletes the second viewing. I still think the movie is really good, despite the criticism.
