I should add too that you most likely saw John and Noal on The Knee. They were re-bolting the old John Barbella/ Paul Gagner route Blowing Chunks.

Yep. I think John took my suggestion of rebolting it to heart - John Barbella's daughter has been climbing with them/us a lot and she'd really, really like to lead her dad's old scarefest (scary because it was "protected" with mostly 1/4 inch bolts).
It's good climbing and deserved the re-bolting.

Brad, is the Knee worth venturing out to?
Charles, you really, really asked the wrong person this time !! ;)
Everything at Pinnacles is worth venturing out to, yes.
With new bolts, Blowing Chunks will be nice, It's slabby to a distinct crux. It's a long way out there though, with some brush (repeat that description for almost any route at Pinns that's off the beaten path).

And bchains, the photo of The Knee that's in the book was taken from near The Unmentionable, so the view you had from The Sisters would have been different.

Awesome, thanks. Yup -- we watched 2 guys spend a lot of time on the route and seemingly swapping positions. One guy was in red, the other blue clothing. And right, I meant to screen cap "from" the sisters but I backed up a bit to get them in the shot for reference.
And as an aside, I love the Pinns... rock can be questionable but still lots of fun.
Thanks again! Bryan

bchains - we saw and heard your party on First Sister.
I posted the rebolt on our Pinns forum (Mud n Crud) today.
7 of the 8 bolts were 1 1/4" long 1/4" button heads with SMC death hangers.

bchains - one of the guys you saw wasn't in red. He was in orange. I know this because he always climbs in orange (we call him traffic cone). I have an orange shirt that he got me that I climb in when I'm out with him.
Traffic Cone. Clinker's daughter made that one up.
Pinnacles season is coming quickly.

Pinns season doesn't start til December, then it's Lower Merced Canyon season. Or Tollhouse/Grotto season. ;)
