Can you describe for me how to get from the notch between tower one and two to the beginning of the where the actual horizontal part of the traverse starts? (by notch, I mean the point where you first see the 800' exposure on your left, the lowest point between the two towers, not a foot above that point)

Been awhile for me also, but I agree with what burch said. Pretty straight forward.

John,
This is looking up at the first pitch of the East Face from the notch. You follow the crack on the right side. It deposits you on a ledge system where you do the traverse shown in the above photos.

I was going to solo it last saturday and I thought I didn't need a topo or any reference material cause I've soloed it a couple of times before but that was at least 10 years ago. So I got to the notch (when I refer to the notch I am talking about the lowest point between the two towers, not a foot above that point). I didn't see anything that looked familiar and, because I was alone, I didn't want to try anything I couldn't reverse. (I'm more cautious in my elderly years). I looked at a possible traverse directly at the notch and went a few feet but to continue looked more difficult than I remembered so I went back to the notch. What I did next (and is probably the way to do the route) is start diagonaling up at about 45 degrees and left toward a crack I saw above me. I think this crack probably ends at a large ledge (Maybe 5' by 5' or so and is shown in the picture shown by tuolumne_tradster in this post) where you start the actual traverse that I remember. It looks like it is approximately 40' from the notch to this ledge. I think you can see the chimney at the end of the traverse from that ledge. I started up this direction but for the reasons I previously described I came down and went up the mountaineers route
