Good, it goes right well with Dressage, Sailing and being a rich white kid with too much money and no athletic abilities!

I didn't know baseball was even considered a sport...who would have guessed.

Lead, speed and bouldering combined should spur interest even if lead climbing is not exactly much more exciting to watch than baseball.

Sweet, I like climbing and I like the Olympics. Hope it happens even though I'm sure it will lead to every imaginable slippery slope terrible catastrophic worst case scenario for the future of climbing!

American Ninja Warrior would be more entertaining. Skinny youngsters on a climbing wall, not so much fun.

Clearly, it is time to bring back a former Olympic sport: jeu de paume. However, in this day
and age most will relate more to the sport's inspirational head: Madame Paume, n'est ce pas?

How about Trad climbing in the Olympics:

Sandy 5.8 over hanging chimney with pro at 40 ft intervals.

Flaring 5.9, water polished

Pro pockets that only take static TriCams

Run out 5.11A face with just enough bolts than any fall ends 6 inches from the ground.

And lastly, 150 feet of 5.10C crack with hexes and stoppers only.

Now that would be some climbing competition that would get me interested.

It should be held on the Gritstone with points for difficulty, style of ascent and probability of death/disfigurement in a fall from the crux.

Potential unroped long falls, like 60 to 80 ft into foam block landings, . . .

Like Ka in Vegas!

I thought you'd be more for it, considering your gymnastics background, John

I had quite a bit of interest in gymnastics 60 years ago, before the media focus of the sport shifted to little girls. And even the men these days are very short, though incredibly muscular.

I think the psicobloc comps have been highly entertaining. They involve speed, technique, strategy. And even though the climbers aren't crab-walking up a California slab, the one's who win are usually the best climbers. It's the perfect format for the Olympics. I'd love to see it.
