Good on Sweetgrass Productions for making a film about this. They've spent some time in British Columbia over the last years.
From the perspective of this B.C. native, Jumbo Resort is a stupid idea. Its too far from any airports for a destination resort. I agree with Jim that most of the people who go there will (have to) come from Calgary. The environmental impact is not worth it. Leave this area wild and to the bears.
B.C. does not need any more ski resorts. Revelstoke and Golden are under utilized as it is. If Jumbo goes ahead, they'll have even less visitors. Like most ski resorts, the Jumbo project is NOT about skiing, but rather cashing in on real estate development. That's what's really driving Jumbo.
Also, B.C. taxpayers should not have to pay for all the avalanche control that will be needed on the road in there. The developers say the control needed will not be worse than Roger's Pass, which is the most extensive and expensive avy control program in the province.

As someone who has actually lived in Golden, I have to say that, while there may be better skiing somewhere in the galaxy, you would probably have to travel interstellar to get to it.

Destination Canada is running commercials on U.S. TV promoting lift-serviced snow recreation. I saw at least three while watching Monday Night Football tonight.
Apparently, it's all part of a plan.

Survival's video, from the OP :
Note the ski scenes are pre resort. Full resort with gondolas and chair lifts would minimize this experience.

Skiing involves the good with the bad, season to season where ever you live.
Well, yeah... Unless you live in Golden.

^ Ghost, last winter was a lot less than ideal. Worst ski season in B.C. in 30 years, including heli skiing. Either too warm or too cold to snow.
B.C. is no better off than anywhere else right now.
Climate change in effect.

Kicking Horse actually did pretty decent last year.
03/16 2015
Not a lot of low snow, but plenty up high especially for there. They don't tend to see a lot of precip in the colder years. Most of it drops on the coast and they don't get much. On the warmer years however, the storms tend to keep a lot more energy as they barrel over the coast and Golden is typically colder so they get snow when we get rain.
The skiing there is absolutely out of this world. Knife edge ridge after knife edge ridge with chute after chute and cliffs abound in between. Amazing features, easily accessed by hiking the windswept ridges and wild formations. Return access to the resort is graciously provided by local trail builders as singletrack traverses through the trees. I have pics.. Maybe i can scratch a few up.

This comment is so true; Revelstoke looks like it likely did in the 80s as for crowds, everytime I have gone mostly on weekends, it is pretty dead. Not many Calgarians bother to drive that far, and go to Golden as its closer, and even Golden is not that busy ever(both amazing hills!).
