Clearly fake. Everybody knows you can't climb hard routes without primal screaming on every move, and angry cursing every time you fall.

How does he expect anyone to believe what they're seeing if he just smoothly makes the moves but doesn't make the noise?

Doesn't he understand the basic rule of hard climbing? "No theatrics, no climb."

Good point Ghost. But these days, many people don't understand that back in the trad days, being far out above a small wire required a cool head, controlled smooth movement, steady breathing etc. There were consequences for not mastering those things. Much of that goes out the window for a super hard gymnastic move near a bolt on severely overhanging terrain. The new super routes are better theater for sure, but not always better climbing, on various levels, for various reasons. The young magazine class may never understand that, unless they dip their personal toes into older waters.

Doug McDonald is 55 and still pulls 5.12 trad, with plenty of FAs.

He just doesn't care if anyone knows.

I find people doing hard routes over 40 much more interesting than children doing hard grades.

I met Ben Moon once in Sheffield at the Foundary in winter of 95. Not climbing at the time though; lots of repetitive beats, lights, pills, and little purple mushrooms that seem to grow everywhere...

Burch, nice catch on the fashion accessories. But he mentioned he is, in fact, married. Sorry dude.

Incredibly inspirational. He was only a few days away from being 49.

Some people age really really well. Climbing can be a fountain of youth. Works your body and your mind. Stay fit people. Your gf/bf or spouse will really appreciate it too.
