Hi, I'm the Evolv sales rep for the Northeast. I've been asked to pass this message along to as many people in the climbing community as possible---I've got some cool folks in my territory looking for some shoe donations. If you have any used but not destroyed rock shoes in need of a new home, there's a worthy group out there asking for help! I'm helping them out with what I can, but they need more than I have the budget for at the moment, and they seem like they have a really positive outlook on what climbing is doing for the people in their community, so I told them I'd reach out to folks on the interwebs on their behalf. I'm not normally a contributor to supertopo, so if this is against the spirit or mod rules of this forum, I apologize beforehand. This is what they asked me to spread:

"Angels of the climbing community,

We are Binghamton. We are a small city in the heart of upstate New York that is battling against drugs, poverty, and institutional racism on every block in this valley. Two years ago, we built a climbing wall in a barn and invited the community to come climb with us--our results have been inspiring.

In two years, we went from 4 dudes doing jumping jacks around a spaceheater, toweling snow off our holds to a 100+ member community of climbers that come together to climb, network social change, and become stronger more encouraging leaders in our community.

Our mission was to create a FREE climbing space for people to come and TCOB on the regular. We are committed to the image of free climbing in this city because we believe this sport offers everything you need to teach people to love themselves and love each other, and the only way we can show that to people is by making this space open and available.

Our younger climbers are growing up surrounded by friendship and encouragement, and we can already see the difference our space is making in this city. We have recently rebuilt our wall to make more space, and have just started talking to the Salvation Army about opening a new completely free to the public climbing space in the heart of one of the most at-risk neighborhoods in the city. We are building a climbing community in Binghamton, and we are doing it from the bottom-up and are actively working to make this project as socioeconomically and racially inclusive as possible.

We are writing this now because our expansion and aspirations are pushing all of our funds to the limit (all holds, shoes, gear, wood has been purchased our of pocket by a core group of climbers here in town). We need HELP. If you have a decent old pair of shoes or some holds or some chalk or whatever, we would LOVE to pay shipping and handling to have it sent out to our rusty little city.

Anything you can spare will go to helping us give kids and adults a safe, awesome, and [we believe] life changing experience through climbing. We love this sport, and we want to make it huge here.

Aaaaahhhhh...another worthy project to ship some of my used climbing shoes to.

I used to complain about my feet getting more finicky with age.
Now I see it as a motivation to donate. :-)
