Deputy Darren Goforth Was Ambushed and Shot 15 Times from behind. Dead

He leaves behind a Wife, 12 Y/O Daughter and 5 Y/O Son.

He was the Brother of the Man that basically saved my life when he dove and pushed my sorry ass to the deck as an incoming "Skinny" RPG round was coming right for my head. I was less than a second away from of having my head blown off. 1310, October 1st, 1993. Mogadishu, Somalia.

My condolences to his family and friends. And I salute the members of this Nation's police and armed services. They do harrowing work for compensation similar to what hedge fund managers tip their private jet pilots.
This country is rife with racial tension and glaring inequality between the haves and the have nots....but it's still a place of relative opportunity and tremendous potential. Let's hope that divisions diminish, wounds heal and we truly become one people.

What NO one in the News Media or any Position of Leadership in this nation has brought to the attention of all. Inclduding BLM etc.

To the incredible credit of Deputy Goforth's peers, this piece of shet is still walking and alive. Their Restraint and Professionalism in arresting and then bringing to justice of Shannon Miles is beyond honorable. If there was any time that a "suspect" could have been shot dead and no one would have flinched or made critical mention of it, it was this. Yet the Houston area Law Enforcement Agencies did not do so.

Just another perfect example that 99.9% of LEO's in this country are GOOD, HONORABLE and DEDICATED Public Servants that do their best to so, day in and day out.

Take a good gander at the female Deputy on the right of the screen. The stare in her eyes says it all.

My first thought was the grit-hard reality of that cold and final act, then of those fatherless children and that heartbroken beautiful mother. What a crime, what a shame.

As to the political aspect: indeed, all lives matter - Gilbert Flores had a life and [abused] wife and child, too. And he was executed in his front yard, hands up high, last Friday. When will the Obama administration step up to the plate, indeed?

this work jgill?:

Mr. Obama called Kathleen Goforth, the widow of Harris Count Sheriff’s Deputy Darren Goforth, while on Air Force One en route to Alaska.

“On behalf of the American people, I offered Mrs. Goforth my condolences, and told her that Michelle and I would keep her and her family in our prayers. I also promised that I would continue to highlight the uncommon bravery that police officers show in our communities every single day,” the president said in a statement.

“They put their lives on the line for our safety. Targeting police officers is completely unacceptable — an affront to civilized society. As I said in my State of the Union Address, we’ve got to be able to put ourselves in the shoes of the wife who won’t rest until the police officer she married walks through the door at the end of his shift. That comfort has been taken from Mrs. Goforth. So we must offer her our comfort — and continue to stand up for the safety of police officers wherever they serve,” Mr. Obama said.

sincere condolences to you TC, your friend and to the family/friends of the deceased.

Obama calls widow of slain Texas deputy, calls shooting ‘an affront to civilized society’

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/aug/31/obama-calls-widow-darren-goforth/

By Ben Wolfgang - The Washington Times - Monday, August 31, 2015

President Obama on Monday condemned last week’s cold-blooded murder of a Texas sheriff’s deputy, calling the killing “an affront to civilized society.”

Mr. Obama called Kathleen Goforth, the widow of Harris Count Sheriff’s Deputy Darren Goforth, while on Air Force One en route to Alaska. Deputy Goforth was shot 15 times while pumping gas Friday night, and investigators believe he was targeted simply because he was a law enforcement officer.

Cragman! This thread, so far, has been a thread expressing condolences for the slain Deputy, as it should be.

Your outraged right-wing, Obama hate, political spittle is still splashing onto my keyboard, re your gruging comment:

Good on Obama for finally speaking up.....

The tragic murder of the Deputy happened on Friday night, and no national news of importance happens when our rulers & newscasters have the weekend off.

Obama expressed his regrets today in the most timely fashion that our news networks will show.

Retract your post, and I will remove this one.

So sorry for the family and all involved. Chief, sorry to you as well, it hit a nerve that we can all recognize. I lost my next door neighbor last Friday due to a stupid act of someone passing 2 cars on a tight winding road where you can't pass anything without endangering something. He leaves behind a wife and 7 year old. I'm still in a period of disbelief. It doesn't help that alcohol was involved. Huge void. I hope you find peace in the senseless which is tough. I'm searching...

Regards

Dan...
