These are from the likely F.A. of the South East Ridge of Cathedral Peak in the Taku Range with Gabe Hayden. Turned out to be a pretty good line. Mostly good rock, some of it was great, with a few pitches of 5.7, and maybe around 1,600' of climbing.

awesome, thats Juneau icefield yes?

I did some climbing there a few years ago, just some glacier routes up mt. service, mt. london, and mt. poletica. Awesome place, not many climbers visit there!

I wanted to go to the Taku Towers since it looked like it was the best rock around, but they were a 2 day ski away from our camp.

Good JOb!!!

How did you get there? heli approach? ski from Juneau? or from Atlin BC?

Educate me: what month is this from? You're climbing in shirtsleeves. What are the day and night temps?
not that I plan to go, just curious...

This was in June. It can be blazing hot in the sun during the summer. Summer nighttime lows are usually in the 40's.

Winters are pretty mild too. Check out the failure to summit thread. That trip was in April. Not winter but...

Thanks for posting. Always look forward to your TR!!

I was born in Juneau and visit often, and always drool over that terrain up there.

Also my Grandpa was involved in the first ever crossing of the Juneau Ice Field in 1946? He was the "Ski Technician" of the team that was led by Maynard Miller and his geological partners. Ansel Adams was the "Photographer" of the trip. Gramps went on to cross a few more times over the years. He also started the first sightseeing flights over the Juneau Ice Fields in the 1970's, catering to the cruise ship passengers!

Have to get out there sometime on one of my visits!!

Thanks again for the great TR!
