I was totally surprised to find this painted rock at the top of Whodunit in Tahquitz. Does anyone know the story behind it?

Could be a sort of memorial to someone who died climbing over there. Does anyone know if that could have been the nickname of the climber who pulled the block off climbing Sahara Terror last July?
Just a wild guess.

It definitely looks like a stream smoothed rock brought from elsewhere.

Or maybe...
It was put there to confuse a group of old white guys on an internet forum somewhere?

Confused "old white guys" and "Internet forum" were the first things I thought of as well. But I don't think so.

BTW where is Sportbikeville?

Good to hear you got to the top of Whodunit, Gunk. I've never dunit.

The slick round rock fell out of someone's solution pocket?

Didn't see it when we topped out. But then again, I wasn't on route the first time and maybe I wasn't the second time either.

Bump!
Thank you for the leads. I now believe that it was left by ET on his way home. It is definitely a new case for the NSA.
(skcreidc, the alien marker is probably still there, just below the top of p5, in a small alcove. It might have been placed there to confirm that you are on route :))

Another egotistical jerk who thinks that it's OK to do with Nature whatever they feel like.
The next step is shooting a Rhino to use its tusk for a knife handle.
