If you're gonna play Russian Roulette in the ice caves, best to walk along the walls instead of out in the middle of the passageways.

The rangers warning people to stay out of the caves due to dangerous conditions all season. Those people ignored those warning and assumed the risk. I feel bad for those involved, but please do head the warning when dangerous conditions are present.

Beyond the signs there have been articles in the news about the conditions being more like late august than late june/early july. The rangers at ranger stations have also been warning people that the conditions are unusually dangerous.
I was at a glacier nearby this past weekend and it was very open and nasty looking. The moats were insanely huge. The conditions were not like early summer at all, and it would have been extremely dangerous to assume the risk of stepping out onto the glacier. This is the case all over the cascades, frozen things are changing, and rapidly.
