He just graduated from high school friday night, and right now he is freezing his ass up on the Canadian border with five pals on their first trip that they all planned and built themselves. Snow and rain and cold. Probably hungry. Hope they're all parked around a big ass fire under a tarp while the wind whips it up.
How much better could anything be?

It is a part of the learning curve. When you are 18 you can do anything.

Tell them to cross the border and go to Penticton, the land of milk and honey in Canada's banana belt. Sparkling lakes, undulating grape vineyards and gentle sport climbing. It almost could be California.....ooops, I forgot the lakes.

They're in the BWCAW. They've got good tents and gear. Ten miles in so we'll have to wait until wednesday to hear how it all went.

Hi RJ
The $20,000 house is morphing into the $40,000 extravaganza. The building did cost about 20 but the welland septic, land etc jumped the price up.
Plans for this summer are to sand floors, shoot in the window trim, do the bathroom, screen the porch, put in the wood stove. Any nordic dogs out there give me a call--8 miles to the Birkebeiner trail.
I'll do the kitchen next summer

a little wet, a little cold- a burger in the gut and coming home tonight. Not too bad for the first time. Looking forward to hearing their stories.
