Went over to check out the Old Zoo this morning to see if it had any bouldering potential. It's dirty, covered in paint, graffiti and hot and dusty. So essentially it's just like Stoney Point. It has some great off widths and overhangs and a few that reminded me of Bottomless Topless on the Snowshed Wall at Donner Summit. If you go I recommend bringing a good brush, especially for the bottom few feet of the walls that tend to be pretty dirty, the higher you go the cleaner it tends to be. I do not know what the legality is for climbing there but I had 3 city workers drive by or walk by as I was bouldering and they didn't seem to care. I would avoid it on weekends as it looks like from the tons of wrapping paper that it's a popular place for birthday parties. Worth checking out if your in the area.

I think if your not in the act of tagging or stabbing someone the powers that be will pretty much leave you alone.

I'd like to go back with a chord and TR some of those OW's. Looks like plenty of stuff to anchor off up top.

Thanks for the pics...never seen that place in color. Only B&W pics.

It's in a guidebook I have somewhere. If I come across it, I'll post the info.

The last I heard, it was not a place to be after dark.

A few more.

About a 2 minute walk from the car. It's up behind the Merri-go-round and Shane's Inspiration Park near the Crystal Springs Ranger Station. It also sits just below Bees Rock.

First of all hi.
Back in 1994, I took friends and a rope and climbed every line, cracks. No problem for two months. Even had LEO hang out one day for an hour.

Then one day they had a movie filming up there and a landscaping supervisor overseeing the job . He shut us down.

There is a law on the books banning any rope rope climbing in the park. This is because of early years of the Sierra club on Bee Rock.

Good fun climbing there and you'll find anchors using long runners.

Just one of many places my buddies and I used to explore as kids growing up in Burbank. It was closed to the public back then, rundown and overgrown and you had to hop the fence. Suprised it's still there.

Rincon,
Where did you grow up in Burbank?
I've lived there my whole life, born and raised and raising my kids here now. If you have to live in LA Burbank ain't a bad place to live.

Batrock we lived on Lincoln St. near Magnolia and Buena Vista. Went to JBHS. Yeah Burbank is nice! My wife always makes fun of me because I always talk about how great it was living there.
