I'm an on again off again climber. Been going to Joshua Tree since 75'. Some things have changed, it's now a NP and looks artificial in places; there are bigger crowds and more climbers wearing gym belay tags on their harnesses; but the feeling is still just as magical now as it was when I was a teenager. The views and the psych just as awesome. I've been putting together a new group from the Sender One gym and the camaraderie is so much fun, just good times with good people. Seems like I've done a lot of routes at Josh but there are still so many left to do! Coarse and Buggy is just one that has been high on my list forever and I finally got to get on it at 55 years old. What a treat! Had a rope gun, thank goodness! Anyway, just had to comment on the magic that is Joshua Tree.

Here's a pic of some of the new gang:

And, Alex lowering off C&B after leading it easily:

more climbers wearing gym belay tags on their harnesses

Hope you told your Sender One crew to remove those tags before entering the park. LOL

I agree, it's a magical place. Happy it is so close to home!!

^^

PLEASE! Do not let lycra make a comeback. Lycra was the main cause of rap bolting and pink pointing. Goodness knows what it could do in this day and age. Just look what it did to that guy.

See you all on 4/11......

Rudder... Sender one is a nice gym, your lucky to have it around.

Remember to teach those kids to dump the tags.....

Keep the Lycra, looks good on 18-30 YO girls......

and there are at least 110 climbs worth doing.... IMHO

I've been going every year since '99, except for the last 3 I missed. Excited though to go back at the beginning of April.

Okay, Alex is not wearing lycra. :O

I don't know what Todd is on, but I want to climb with Todd!
Guyman looks like he could be starting Geronimo?
Adam looks to be belaying from Solid Gold?
And, the third picture from Adam is Illusion Dweller.
But, I don't know the name of the other climbs that Adam posted. :/

Here's a couple shots from a week ago when I took the gang over to Headstone:

I believe there might be a belay badge on display. haha

So many people walk around Joshua Tree with blinders on, What's cool about JT is that there are thousands of fantastic routes if you get off the beaten track.
