Hey tacoers,
Headed down to the valley for a few days and it looks to be wet. Had Mideast Crisis on the mind as it is overhanging...however,is slabby in spots...good rain route? Ive done Wet Denim on LT and thought that could stay dry but ive already done it...anybody have any weather info or route conditions on Jesus Built My hotrod or Roulette?

Roulette is stout for how it's depicted in the new guidebooks. More like A4 and kind of serious on the first two pitches. If the wind is blowing, you will most likely get wet. Great route though, there are some wonderful pitches on it.

I think it would be a good adventure to try Coonyard to Oasis with hooks in a rain/sleet-storm.

A little over 35 years ago, we were descending the Grack while another party was on A Mother's Lament, in all its runout glory. As we got to the ground, we could see rain starting to fall on the top of Glacier Point and working its way down toward Happy Isles. Fortunately for the other party, the leader was only about 15 feet out from his last protection, but there was absolutely nothing he could do as he (and we) watched an obvious sheet of water working, like a giant amoeba, down the Apron toward its victim.

The West Face of the Leaning Tower is an obvious candidate in the rain. The East Face of the Column (where Mideast Crises, et al. are located) is OK if you get up the slabs before the rain starts, though the top can get rather messy, too. Just make sure you bring really good rain protection!

Careful- it has been my experience that rain in the valley leads to rock-slides

I think we'll see what looks drier once were on awahnee. Im rockin an A5 expedition fly and weve got our rain gear. Main worry is what c wilmot said above...the descent down the gulley might be a sloppy wet shooting gallery.
