My Nikon coolpix 5200 SUCKS! The screen shows me a clear picture but when I press the button it focuses on the farther background and shoots.
I'm getting a damn SLR.

Spent a day at the SHOT show and saw tons of cool stuff.

Probably the big buzz is over AR handguns with Sigg "wrist braces" chambered in .300 Blackout. Instead of dumping nearly half the energy out of the muzzle with hellacious flash and noise like the 5.56mm ones, the .300 Blackout shoots a 7.62 round out of downsized cases that work in standard AR mags and can develop full velocity in as little as 11" of barrel. The 220gr round is subsonic and reputedly with a proper can the loudest sound is the brass hitting a hard floor.

Already got mine by showing up at Get Some 30 minutes before opening. The manager saw me at the door and let me in. 35 minutes later I was about to leave when a guy walked in asking for a .300 Blackout. The manager pointed at me and said, "There it goes."

These were the guys next to the Yates Gear/ Bluewater booth.

Petzl and Patagonia were there too. Patagonia is going for the big bucks with camo military uniforms.

Gunny R. Lee Ermey was hanging out at the Glock booth signing catalogs and posing for photos. A very friendly and approachable guy.

I asked him when The Siege of Firebase Gloria will be out on blu-ray, and he thought it already was. (?)

Anyway I'll download some more pics but the quality is disappointing.

From the sublime to the ridiculous.

Anybody going to Jurassic Park?

After Sandy Hook the SHOT show babes largely disappeared, and the remainder just have low cut shirts and actually do take sales orders.

I really like guns. Is that weird? Considering that I want Obama to take away your guns? Seriously, this is the kind of sh#t that I struggle with. Good? Bad? I don't know.

I wish that the camera had focussed on the $8K Cabot Arms 1911 with grips made from a wooly mammoth tooth.

I'd love to have one of these;

setting for my Canon digital camera to focus on close-up subjects.

Bummer to not have those shots in focus.

If I was Dick Cheney I'd buy them, but,....

My son spent the better part of a week hauling him around the sandbox in a C-130. Yeah, he's the real deal and would rather hang out with those that work for a living.

Harry Reid on the other hand won his biggest as#@&%e award. Showed up with his private chef and portable kitchen that the crew had to ride on top of because there was no room left in the plane.

On top of that he and his entire staff were complete as#@&%es to everyone.

He was ready to open the back door and dump em' all out by the end of that ride.

Nice Ron, I think one of those S&W is the .460. Shot one and though I'd never own one, unless I had money to waste, damn it was fun.

Cameras, like people, get erratic and completely lose focus when attending gun shows. Take it out climbing and it should be fine

It's always nice to have a lefty in your squad if you have to go around a corner clockwise.

There were some good FLIR night sights available also.

You may have some setting off. Also, do you do the half-click to lock the focus? Most cameras have that function, so far as I know, unless things have changed lately.

Yep, dems excel at CQB.
Just don't ask, don't tell...might not wanna share a "Ranger-grave" with one.

What Happiegirrrl said. There are several settings for autofocus on that camera. From the manual regarding AF settings:
"Allows you to determine how the camera selects the focus area that is used for autofocus; the available settings are Face priority Manual, Center, Subject tracking, and Target finding AF (default setting)."

See page 73 of the manual. If you're in need of said manual:

I would bet you camers is on continous servo mode which is mean for tracking moving objects and much more prone to bouncing arround. RTFM (read the fcking manuel) and set it on single .

I can be fairly ambedextrous depending on what kind of long gun. Mostly shoot an AR lefty. have to shoot shotguns lefty. can shoot my MK4 and savage 270 ambi. never had a dedicated lefty gun just got used to running the standard ones lefty.

Knew you guys would find it for me.

So this time I didn't buy any firearms at the show, (hell, I'm still waiting for one I ordered 2 years ago) but among my purchases were some rattler grips for my 1911PD.

And some knives, L-R
stag handled straight clip point , Katz Cutlery, from Spain
Hen & Rooster Bowie with oxhide sheath (with hair), from Germany
37 layer damascus Hatashi KB-150, from Japan, with traditional wooden scabbard

Well, if you are going to buy a DSLR instead of reviewing the manual, you can donate the crappy camera to Todd's Fundraiser...

It makes sense that it is focus-lock or tracking setting issue, since it doesn't seem to mind standing-still landscape images.
